One of the “housing challenged” people in the Il Pilar neighborhood collecting metal scraps in her cart. There are several people in the area that I see making their way to the various refuse containers we have on the streets here but this is the first time I have seen her. I hope she has made some good finds that will be useful to her.
Captured during a recent morning walk in the El Carmen neighborhood here in Valencia. Often one will find wet streets like this even though there has been no rain. The reason for this is the street cleaners will come through, spraying their mixture of cleaning chemicals onto the tiles and bricks making up the pathways through the city leaving behind a reflective surface on which everyone walks, drives, and rides.
The 2023 Techno Parade in Paris is definitely the place to find people having a great time. Even if you don’t know what is going on or why, it’s a crazy awesome, roving street party. The wonderful thing for the street photographer is that everyone is happy to have their photos taken. No need to be sneaky or subtle, just raise your camera to your eye and this is the sort of thing that happens!
An early morning during Fallas 2024 as an ASV worker gets his day started. It was particularly misty on this morning which combined with the low, early morning sun added some nice drama to this shot.

On the path between Plaza Reina and Plaza Virgin, a lone man carries the spoils of his shopping excursion to his home.
Clearly something has not gone well for this gentleman. Perhaps his drink is unsatisfactory, or maybe something in his view is displeasing him. His companion seems to be OK, however, and seems to be enjoying her drink on this chilly day.
This capture taken during the 2023 Techno Parade in Paris is one of my favorites, but it didn’t start out that way. I grabbed this shot quickly and the subject was walking by. The “Police” text on her shirt initially caught my eye and I didn’t think more of it. Later, it turns out there was more to this shot than I realized. The subject has an interesting expression and seems to be in thought, far away from the surrounding scene. What really won me over for this shot was Richard Kavlar‘s liking of this image during a workshop in Paris. Makes me feel pretty good about it 🙂
I’ll admit I didn’t quite see everything going on when I snapped this shot, but it turned out to be pretty interesting when I reviewed it later. I know nothing bad actually occurred here, but it does look like the man on the right should be looking the other way, as the figure on the left does seem to be giving the couple too much attention.
